ABOUT THIS PHOTOGRAPH

That fleeting moment captured in the photograph was entirely genuine. When we first asked them to smile, they were a bit self-conscious, trying to figure out how to pose for the camera. Suddenly, the a girl turned to Dhanusmita Bayan, who was wearing the traditional Bihu dress, and asked, "Kali college jabi?" (Are you going to college tomorrow?). It wasn’t a conventional joke, but the unexpected question caught everyone off guard and made us all burst into spontaneous laughter, exactly the raw emotion we needed for the perfect shot.

Behind that single frame lies a deeper narrative about who we truly are. Festivals like Bihu and Bwisagu may have different origins, but at their core, they share the same spirit. While the traditions, customs, and ways of celebrating are unique to each community, they ultimately blend into a single harmony. Both festivals are vibrant celebrations of joy, color, happiness, and togetherness.

The most beautiful part of this experience was witnessing how cultural boundaries dissolve during these moments. True celebration isn't about remaining isolated within our own communities; it is about stepping into someone else's world and sharing in their joy. By embracing each other's traditions, we create a beautiful space where everyone is included, celebrating life entirely together.
