The arrival of spring in Assam always brings a wave of culture, music, and joy. This year, the festive spirit of Bohag Bihu arrived with a completely fresh, modern heartbeat. Released exactly on the eve of Bihu, a special day of celebration known as Uruka, the new music video "Minimi x Kaysee" officially dropped. This creative project honors old traditions while exploring exciting new styles.
Rap & BIHU
This song is a wonderful experiment that connects two different musical worlds. Minimi wrote, composed, and performed the rap sections of the track. The lyrics use clever personification to give a human touch to the beautiful elements of Assamese culture. To balance the high energy of the rap, indie singer Kaysee joined the project. She added her soulful and motivating vocals, which gave the song a deep emotional feel. Together, they successfully mixed traditional Bihu roots with modern music.

To capture the true feeling of Bihu, the team did not use a fake studio set. Instead, the crew spent three exciting days filming in a remote village near Sipajhar. This beautiful location is actually the hometown of the director. Because of this personal connection, the team received a warm welcome from the locals, adding real authenticity to every scene.
The team filmed inside the director's aesthetic house, near a peaceful village pond, and across wide paddy fields. Even though they had a busy three-day schedule, the atmosphere on set was smooth and full of laughter. Local dancers and musicians brought a lot of energy to the shoot. The girls looked beautiful in their traditional silk sador mekhela as they sang and played the gogona. At the same time, the boys played the flute, the traditional pepa, and the dhol to celebrate the spring season. The video perfectly shows village life, from local food and animals to festive community celebrations.

A hardworking crew worked together closely behind the camera to make this vision come to life. Priyanka Sohoria directed the music video and guided the overall creative vision. Maaruf Bin Rafique took care of both the cinematography and the editing, capturing the bright colors of the festival and cutting the scenes together smoothly. Chintu Nick worked as the Assistant Director to keep the schedule on track during the busy shoot.
Priyanka Sohoria’s dad stepped in as the Line Producer, using his local knowledge to manage all the village arrangements. Jakia managed the project smoothly as the Executive Producer, and Krishnav stayed busy capturing all the fun behind-the-scenes moments.
Releasing this video on Uruka was a true love letter to the spirit of Assam. By blending the old with the new, the project honors timeless traditions while showing a fresh direction for modern Assamese music.
