ABOUT THIS ARTICLE

The Musical Roots of Najitora

At its heart, Najitora is a celebration of Bihu—the lifeblood of Assamese culture. The song was originally crafted with heartfelt lyrics by Moina Goswami, perfectly matched to the melodious composition of Ananda Das. The arrangement by Rupam Talukdar enriches its authentic sound, while the refined production by Pranabjyoti Neog ensures that the song feels both traditional and timeless.

Behind the polished audio experience, many skilled hands contributed to making this classic resonate. The soulful singing of Dulal Nath carries the festive emotions of Bihu. Rupam Talukdar’s versatile contribution as music arranger, accordion player, and sound engineer adds depth and color. Instruments like the tabla and dholak, played by Simanta Barua and Naba Chutia, along with saxophone and flute by Kailash Rabha, and dhol by Pankaj Saikia, create a rich tapestry of sound that feels celebratory yet intimate. Guitarist Aniruddha Barua adds modern flair, while the final mixing and mastering by Ibson Lal Barua bring out the song’s warmth and clarity.

All of this came together at Sabdarupa Recording Studio—a space where tradition met technical finesse to bring this beloved track to life.

Breathing New Life Through Visual Storytelling

Under the direction of Priyanka Sohoria and Maaruf Bin Rafique, serving as both DOP and editor, captures sweeping landscapes, expressive dance, and vibrant costumes that echo the song’s festive energy.

The cast, featuring Subrat Deori and Runumi Saikia in lead roles, along with a talented ensemble of dancers, bring Bihu's joy to life through choreography by Dikshita Borah. Drone footage by Sanjeev Bezbaruah lends breathtaking perspectives, while the costumes designed by Reeya Phukan and makeup by Suman Mandal reflect the authenticity and beauty of Assamese tradition.

The production process itself is a testament to teamwork and dedication. From assistant directors Samar Jyoti Sarkar and Partharanjan Sonowal coordinating the shoot, to behind-the-scenes coverage by Chintu Nick, every detail was carefully managed. Practical support from the production manager Pranjal Handique, kitchen crew Rana, Munna, Mali, and drivers Sanjoy, Puna, and Jitu ensured the team could focus on creativity.

Community and Collaboration

The video’s strength also lies in its community spirit. Additional cast and dancers, from Pranami Mohan to Similisha Das, each add their energy and talent to the final production. Local guide Tilak Saikia and special thanks to Dilip Saikia and Deepjyoti Deka highlight the importance of local support in making cultural projects like this possible.

Ekoda Productions collaborated with Aastha Creations as the production house, while digital marketing partner OK North East helped bring the song to a wider audience—bridging the gap between tradition and digital age.
