ABOUT THIS ARTICLE

What began as a powerful collaboration on the music video “OKHA” took an unexpected yet beautiful turn when Niramoni Mahalia dialed up Chintu Nick with a new idea—a short film that would later evolve into something far more emotionally layered than anyone expected.

Set in and around the scenic stretches of Udalguri Town, this untitled short film is a story of emotion, connection, and creative spontaneity, brought to life by a passionate team and presented by The Soul Story.

The Genesis of an Idea

The project didn’t start in a studio or on a script—it started in a restaurant in Udalguri, where post-production discussions casually turned into something more intentional. As ideas brewed, the team decided to include a song midway into the narrative, giving the film an unexpected melodic heartbeat.

A handful of location recces in the town and its outskirts soon followed, along with script reading sessions between leads Niramoni Mahalia and Partha Pratim Bayan to carve out the emotional terrain of the story.

Five Days of Filming, Countless Moments Captured

The film was shot over five days—four days of principal photography and one day for the title track—with each day supported by a different assistant director: Pranjal Das (Day 1), Nilam Jyoti Das (Day 2), Rishab Bayan (Day 3), and Ananya Dutta (Day 5), whose combined efforts kept the creative energy high and the schedule on track.

The Team Behind the Vision

The film was written and directed by Barasha Gayan, who also penned the lyrics for its title track, and features Niramoni Mahalia and Partha Pratim Bayan in emotionally charged lead roles, with Chintu Nick serving as editor, DOP, and colorist—bringing visual depth and cohesion—while HiroNYa composed the music and foley, Daohang Feel Music Studio handled dubbing, Manas Sharma provided illustrations, and the project was produced by PYROZ Productions.

The Soundtrack – “XEIYA TUMI”

The soundtrack “XEIYA TUMI,” sung by Kadan Deka with lyrics by Barasha Gayan and composed by Manash Pratim Das, Uttam Daimari, and Bikash Baishaya, beautifully ties into the film’s theme as more than just a title track—it’s the emotional echo of the narrative, recorded, mixed, and mastered at Earth Studio, Udalguri.

Special Appearances & Gratitude

Adding richness to the cast were Puja Saha and Bharati Subba, with heartfelt thanks extended to those who made the production possible behind the scenes:
Kritam Dutta, Podumi Das, Ronit Das, Asib Daimari, Zion Basumatary, Mina Das, and the ever-supportive parents.

Filming Locations

The film was shot across multiple meaningful spots in Udalguri, including:

  • ZEN Café – a recurring hub of creativity

  • Asboforod Academy Senior Secondary School – adding a layer of realism and local texture
